Published in 1988, this cheery novel narrates the affair of young shepherd boy Santiago from Andalusian who looks for his way to achieve his dream or destiny.  Coelho has made his prose straightforward and profound and hence, anyone can read this book. Stimulated by an unknown king called Melchizedek, he decides to sell the flock and go through numerous dangers and receive numerous lessons in life. "This Is How You Heal" by Brianna Wiest: A Strong theme of an individual’s exploration of character.

"When You're Ready, This Is How You Heal" by Brianna Wiest: A Journey of Awakened Self When You’re Ready is a deeply powerful and heartfelt self-help book by Brianna Wiest that helps a person navigate through the rather complex process of healing. Let me just add that as an experienced and highly successful writer Wiest skillfully combines her own life experience and effective advice to provide readers with guidance on how to achieve the very most out of life.  Embracing the Healing Journey Wheatley’s argument in the book is anchored on the notion that for any person to be transformed, then they have to be willing to be transformed. The author Wiest successfully guides the reader through these steps and imparts a tone of understanding at every level while simultaneously demanding personal responsibility on the part of the client.  Building Self and Emotional Awareness and Strength The principle that runs through “When You’re Ready, This Is How You Heal” is the notion th...

A Timeless Tale of Morality and Injustice: A To Kill a Mockingbird’

Image
Exploring Justice, Prejudice, and Courage in Harper Lee's Classic To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the best works of Harper Lee that is exploration of morality, justice, and being human. This is a Pulitzer Prize winner that has so pervasively marked American literature that it brings joy to the hearts of people of different generations; its strenuously developed characters and a painfully close focus on the bigotry of societies of different periods truly remain inspiring. Its main character is entitled Scout Finch, a young girl the actions of which are observed from the child’s point of view which helps to fish out the essence of the grown-ups’ world. From the perspective of Scout, the audience gets familiar with Maycomb, the small town in Alabama, where the Finch family headed by the lawyer, Atticus Finch, fights against prejudice and unfairness, and searches only the truth.  The major plot of the novel revolves around the rape trial of a black man, Tom Robinson, and demonstra...

Forty Rules of Love: “A Literary Masterpiece”

Exploring Love and Wisdom: A Review of "The Forty Rules of Love"   Among the novels of modern literature, there is no doubt the Elif Shafak’s work “The Forty Rules of Love” which is a truly absorbing read and is a true masterpiece in terms of discussing spirituality. The novel does attempt to popularize Rumi’s ideas and Sufism by presenting a clear message through two storylines: one that is present-day, and the other that is historical, revolving around Rumi. It mentions some of the most profound Sufi ideas such as wahdat ul wujood, basirah, fanaa, and ishq-e-haqiqi. The word ‘forty’ in the title of the work translates into forty rules about love, life and the soul. Among the novels of modern literature, there is no doubt the Elif Shafak’s work “The Forty Rules of Love” which is a truly absorbing read and is a true masterpiece in terms of discussing spirituality. The novel does attempt to popularize Rumi’s ideas and Sufism by presenting a clear message through two s...

A Dark and Enthralling Fairy Tale   A Hauntingly Delightful Tale  Coraline by Neil Gaiman can best be described as a fantasy horror novel for children though it can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Appearing in the year 2002 this middle-grade novel is now regarded as a classic of children’s horror due to its atmospheric and inventive plot.  Plot Summary  The plot is built around a young girl Coraline Jones, who is moving into a strange house with her not very attentive parents. Getting lonely and as a result being bored, Coraline comes across a door and opens it to find herself in another world that feels the same as hers. But this other world belongs to her ‘other mother’ and ‘other father’ who although appear as cute as rabbits with button eyes are not as good as they seem.    Suspense and Thrills  There is tension throughout the movie from the time Coraline sets foot in the new house she moved into. There is no doubt to say that Gaiman ...
